Neural Maintenance-XF Medium

Next-generation neural cell culture medium restricted to animal-free components. It has been optimized to support low density culture and long-term functional maturation.

Xeno-Free Cell Culture Medium for optimal maintenance of human neural stem cells and neural cell types

For long-term neuronal cultures, Axol’s Neural Maintenance-XF Medium provides an ideal environment to support axonal elongation and synaptic activity. Neural Stem Cells cultured in this medium maintain the capacity to differentiate into neuronal and glial lineages. The medium is completely defined ensuring lot-to-lot consistency and reliable performance between experiments. Neural Maintenance-XF Medium can maintain healthy neurons when cultured at low density (10,000 cells/cm2).

Neural Stem Cells were cultured on a SureBond+ReadySet coated culture vessel using Neural Differentiation-XF Medium. 54h after thawing, the NSCs cells were switched to Neural Maintenance-XF Medium. The resulting neurons were stained for TUJ1 expression and counterstained using DAPI. Image taken at Day 14.

Neural Stem Cells were cultured on a SureBond+ReadySet coated culture vessel using Neural Differentiation-XF Medium. 54h after thawing, the neural stem cells were switched to Neural Maintenance-XF Medium. The resulting neurons were stained using an antibody targeting MAP2. The cells were counterstained using DAPI. Image taken at Day 14.

Neural Stem Cells were briefly expanded in Neural Expansion-XF Medium and passaged onto a SureBond+ReadySet coated culture vessel. The cells were maintained in Neural Maintenance-XF Medium. The cells were counterstained using DAPI. Neural stem cells can be visualized as Ki67-positive cells. Neurons differentiated from the neural stem cells are shown using the marker TUJ1. Image taken at Day 7.
