In partnership with patient advocacy groups and industry collaborators, we have committed to helping democratise access to physiologically relevant human models of disease. By making advanced human iPSC-derived models more accessible to researchers, we aim to support better science, accelerate drug discovery, and help drive progress for patients affected by complex diseases.
It’s a mission that requires scientific excellence, innovation, and collaboration. Most importantly, it requires great people.
That’s why our culture matters so much. The work we do is only possible because of the talented individuals across the business who bring expertise, passion, and commitment to their roles every day.
A team that believes in what we do
We’re proud that our recent employee engagement survey resulted in an Employee Net Promoter Score (eNPS) of 73, with the majority of respondents indicating they would recommend Axol as a place to work. While numbers never tell the whole story, this result is a strong reflection of the culture we’ve built together. In many industries, an eNPS above 50 is considered excellent, making a score of 73 something worth celebrating.
More importantly, it suggests that people feel connected to our mission, supported by their colleagues, and proud of the work we’re doing together.
“At Axol Bioscience Ltd, we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where every employee feels valued, connected to the organisation, and empowered to influence our culture. Over the past two years, Axol has experienced significant change, and this NPS score is a strong reflection of our employees’ ongoing commitment to the business and their shared desire to continue building a culture founded on engagement, empowerment, collaboration, and mutual respect,” said Sonya Ansell, Head of HR, Axol Bioscience.
Living our values every day
Our culture is shaped by six core values that guide how we work, collaborate, and make decisions every day.
Performance
We are committed to delivering high-quality products and getting it right the first time, every time. Excellence is at the heart of everything we do.
Transparency
We value openness, honesty, and a willingness to learn from our customers and colleagues. Transparent communication helps us build trust and continuously improve.
Diversity & inclusivity
We strive to create an environment where every employee feels empowered, listened to, and heard. Different perspectives make us stronger and help us deliver better outcomes.
Accountability
We approach every task with diligence and responsibility, holding ourselves to high standards and taking ownership of our work.
Acting with integrity
We are committed to doing the right thing for our customers, our colleagues, and our business. Integrity is fundamental to how we operate.
Collaborative culture
One of the strengths of Axol is the willingness of people across the organisation to work together, share expertise, and support one another. By encouraging collaboration among scientific and commercial teams, we create an environment where best practices are continually reviewed, improved, and implemented.
That collaborative mindset helps us solve challenges, develop new opportunities, and stay focused on delivering meaningful impact for the research community.
These values influence how we work with customers, collaborate with colleagues and make decisions as a business. They create an environment where people feel empowered to contribute, challenge ideas and continuously improve.
As we’ve grown, maintaining these values has remained a priority. They provide the foundation for a workplace built on trust, respect, and shared purpose.
Investing in quality and development
A strong culture is supported by strong systems and ongoing investment in people.
Axol maintains a Quality Management System aligned with ISO standards, ensuring quality metrics are monitored and reviewed regularly. We also provide training to ensure employees have the knowledge and confidence to follow established procedures and perform at their best.
Learning and development are essential in a fast-moving scientific industry. By encouraging continuous improvement and knowledge sharing, we help employees grow while ensuring we continue to deliver the highest standards for our customers and partners.
Attracting the right people
As we continue to grow, we’re looking for people who believe in what we’re trying to achieve.
Skills and experience are important, but so is mindset. We want to attract individuals who share our values, embrace collaboration, and are motivated by the opportunity to contribute to something bigger than themselves.
Our mission to democratise access to physiologically relevant human disease models is ambitious, and achieving it will require passionate people who are excited by the potential of science to improve lives.
