Introducing Axol’s V2.0 Sensory Neuron XF Bundle Kits

Axol’s market leading iPSC-derived sensory neurons cells are now available in these V2.0 kits.

Bundle kits include 1M or 3.2M cells and the media and supplements for either 1/3rd of a 96-well plate or a full 96-well plate. Some additional 3rd party components are required.

Why you should be excited about Axol’s new V2.0 Sensory bundle kits –

  • New simpler, automation friendly protocol to save you time, money and enable scalability
  • Smarter ‘trial size’ and ’96-well plate size’ format to reduce material wastage
  • Now  Xeno-Free for great compliance compatibility
  • We’ve lowered the price of 96 -well kit down from $4,609 to $3,793!

Please note we will continue to supply and support our current ‘V1.0’ kit (ax0157) and reagents (ax0033 and ax0060). Our ax0055 and ax0555 iPSC-derived sensory neurons are equally compatible with both versions of the kits and protocols.

What is Xeno-Free (XF)?

XF describes a finished product that does not contain or use in the manufacturing process any primary raw materials that are derived directly from non-human animals or that are recombinant materials made from non-human animal DNA sequences. The primary raw materials used in manufacturing may be purified, processed or unprocessed materials from human sources or may contain recombinant materials produced in plant, bacterial, or yeast expression systems or in human cell lines. Secondary and tertiary raw materials may be derived from animal components.

V1.0 and V2.0 bundle kits use our market leading axoCells iPSC-derived Sensory Neurons

With our axoCells iPSC-derived sensory neurons, researchers continue to unlock the benefits of iPSC technology in in vitro pain and peripheral neurotoxicity models.

Why our sensory neurons could bolster your research:

  • Expression of the key nociceptive ion channels including Nav1.7 and the DRG-specific, TTX resistant channels, Nav1.8 and Nav1.9 as well as the temperature-sensitive, TRPV1 and TRPM8, and TRPA1, a sensor of pungency, bitterness and cold
  • Functional relevance across multiple assays including capsaicin treatment, thermoception and neurite outgrowth analysis with and without the stressor paclitaxel
  • Designed for advanced in vitro model formats including co-culture, microfluidics devices and organ-on-chip platforms
  • Manufactured in our ISO 9001-accredited production facility with excellent ISSCR standards compliance for consistency of performance

Serving the iPSC community with better products at competitive pricing

At Axol, we have pledged to support the iPSC community, helping researchers to unlock the benefits of iPSC technology for better human disease models. These updates form a part of this pledge, providing easier and more affordable to access and use to market-leading iPSC technology. That includes those new to iPSCs, researchers already engaged with iPSC technology, and groups looking to scale up in size and complexity.

As a market leader in the manufacture of iPSC-derived functional cells consistently and at scale, it is imperative that we keep up to date with the needs of our community and respond accordingly. This also involves observing any potential gaps that exist within the industry and doing our part to fill those gaps.

As we reconfigure our sensory neurons product, several key factors have driven the changes we are implementing. Feedback from the market highlighted areas for improvement, including ease of use, competitive pricing, and better alignment with industry standards. We’ve also recognized opportunities to enhance product consistency and simplify the user experience, addressing challenges that have arisen from current protocols and customer interactions. These insights have guided our efforts to optimize the product offering, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of the market and provides a more streamlined, effective solution for our customers.

The newly reconfigured “Bundle Kits” offer a range of improvements designed to better meet the needs of our customers while enhancing product performance. By streamlining the kits and making them more affordable, we are ensuring compliance with protocols is more likely, reducing the need for third-party products. The bundle kits are tailored to customer needs, offering two convenient sizes: a 96-well plate size for standard use or a trial size (one-third of the plate), which provides more flexibility and value. This trial size option allows customers to access essential components at a lower cost, making it easier for them to test and scale without the full investment.

We have also reduced overall costs and are passing on the savings directly to our customers, making high-quality research using our functionally relevant sensory neurons more accessible. Additionally, the updated kits eliminate the need for mitomycin C, saving researchers valuable time and allowing for greater automation, which further streamlines workflows.

In response to market demand for animal-free products, we have made sure the kits utilize no animal-derived components, addressing concerns over ethical sourcing and offering a more sustainable solution. The new kits also introduce a high-throughput protocol, the first marketed in the industry, which significantly accelerates research processes and sets a new standard for scalability. These updates together offer tangible benefits for our customers, enhancing both efficiency and compliance while driving down costs and increasing the ease of use.

At Axol, continuous improvement is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to listening to the evolving needs of our customers and adapting our products to ensure we provide the best possible solutions. This dedication ties directly into our core values of Performance, Transparency, and Accountability, which guide every decision we make. By embracing this mindset, we ensure that we not only meet but exceed customer expectations, continuously striving to do our part in delivering quality products and services and supporting the iPSC community at large.

Sensory 2.0 bundle kits will be formally launched at SLAS 2025 and available to purchase from Axol soon.
